Cannot Reset Admin Password


I just now had the same problem you did. I’ve been trying forever to figure out what to do.

    When a user enters an incorrect admin password three times, Netgear routers go into Password Recovery mode, which requires

    • Entry of the serial number, which indicates that this person likely has physical possession of the router and can read the serial number from the label.
    • Correct response to two personal questions, which were supposed to have been created at the time the router was originally installed (but which many users somehow overlook during that process).  If the questions were never set up or the user cannot supply correct answers, then there is no method to recover the password.  The only recourse is to perform a Factory Reset on the router and configure it
