1. How do I clear this error?

thanks for this recommendation, it worked perfectly. For the record here's what i did
1. set up two factor authentication on my GMAIL account; specifically,
2. In my Google account, went to Security settings (select from list on the left)
3. Scroll down to Signing in to Google; select App passwords
4. In Select app pull-down menu, select other and enter a custom name (e.g., Wifi Router)
5. Select device (I just chose Mac)
6. Click generate
7. Copy the App password code
8. In the Admin for Nighthawk R7000P router: Router Admin--> Advanced-->Security-->e-mail
9. Enter send-to email address; outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com; outgoing port: 465
10. Select mail server requires authentication
11. enter Google account name; paste the App password copied in step 7; click apply
12. ... and that should set it up

Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Enjoy. 📡
I will try using google with two factor authentication but first I need to clear the email failed message. Is that for the router? It seems to be generated no matter which email I use.

Try disabling email logging feature, apply then reboot the router, then go in can setup the new gmail with the generated PW and config seen in that link. Then try sending logs. If you still get a error, might try a factory reset and setup from scratch on the router. Or possible that the email service is temporarily blocked something and may need to check with the ISP service or try again say in a a few hours or tomorrow and let there system clear. I presume if the email service see's too many bad attempts, they could block the router.
