Confused by too many different models. R8000 or R7900P is better?

I am considering between R8000 or R7900P. It seems like R8000 with AC3200 is better than R7900P with AC3000.

However, R7900P has faster processer (R7900P=1.8 GHz Dual-Core processor / R8000= 1 GHz Dual-Core processor) and more ram (R7900P=512 / R8000=256). And it support MU-MIMO and Link Aggregation, etc.

Netgear has too many different model number, I have to admited that I am confused. Any solid advice would be very appreciated.

  • I would go for the R7900P for the reasons you gave. Plus it's newer.

Ignore the slight edge in speed the R8000 has. The 150 Mbps advantage in the 2.4 GHz band uses a proprietary mechanism that virtually no client will be able to leverage.
