Etekcity Wi-Fi Outlet with Nighthawk x4 R7500v2
I just upgraded from the router Charter gave to the Nighthawk. On the old router I had smart plugs that worked no problem. I've gotten everything else set up just fine on Nighthawk except the plugs! They only operate on 2.4ghz. I have made sure I am trying to connect to the SSID for my 2.4. I have disabled the 5.0ghz. Nothing seems to work. I try to set the plugs up and the configuration just times out when trying to connect to wifi. I've tried using the plug app's APN which times out also. I'm hoping someone else has gotten this brand of plugs to work or can give me some suggestions. Thanks!

Do these things have a model identifier?
Are the wireless credentials (SSID, passphrase) the same on the new
router as on the old, or different?

Not a very detailed description of what you did.
I've never dealt with an Etekcity socket, so I know nothing, but I
have done a little with some Orvibo S20 sockets. The Orvibo S20 has a
reset function (hold button until indicator LED flashes red). If the
Etekcity socket has something similar, then I'd try that. It also has
two methods for getting it to connect to the wireless network. If the
Etekcity socket is similar, then "I try to set the plugs up" is toovague to be very useful.

What are these smart plugs?
- SullyMonsterAspirantThey are a wifi enabled power plug. It plugs into a power outlet (then whatever device you want controlled by it plugs into it) and can be turned on/off, monitor power usage, set timers, controlled with voice activation devices such as an Echo Dot or Google Home, etc.

Forgot to mention that they are set up and controlled (initially at the least) with an app on your smartphone. That app will use whatever wifi network you are connected to on your phone to attempt to sync with the plugs. Since the plugs only work in 2.4ghz that is the band I've been connected to when attempting to sync. Just for troubleshooting purposes I did try to connec to my 5ghz band and attempt to use the app to sync the plugs but it immediately recognizes the 5ghz and asks you to switch to 2.4.
