Factory reset on nighthawk and now slow upload speeds.
I have ATT and pay for the 1000 mbps. That speed test shows 999 upload/ download. It’s connected to a nighthawk that was having a issue showing I had a update it could not download. Spent 2 hours playing around trying to update it then finally just did a factory reset. Before the reset my nighthawk speed test showed 650-700 for BOTH upload and download. I set all the same things as before but now my download is 700 and my upload is 100. All that and the router still shows it needs a update I can’t get. Anyone else experience this have any ideas. Wish I had just never messed with it now.

And your Netgear device is? Look at the label on the thing for the model number.

ATT usually provides users with a gateway, a modem that is also a router. If so, you are piling router on router.
Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local address problems. Among other things, the other router can misdirect addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.
This explains some of the other drawbacks.

There may be ways to get the modem/router to cooperate. Sometimes it is easier to put the second router into AP mode. But that has its own drawbacks:

What firmware version do you have on the unknown device?
A number is more useful than "the latest". There may be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.
If there is one it might also help if you told people the make and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that sits between this router and the Internet. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
I ask because a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting. - KitsapMaster

Experienced Netgear users prefer the manual update method over the automatic process. If you do not have the hardware to connect to your router via Ethernet, a good Wi-Fi connection should work.
