FASTLANE CONFIGURATION FOR AC2200 (EX7300)

Charter Communications/Sepctrum supplied Hitron Technology EN2251 modem with SAGECOM SAC2V2S router with both 2.4 and 5 GHz channels.  NetGear AC2200 (EX7300) WiFi Mesh Extenter.  

  FastLane configured to use 2.4 GHz router-to-modem and 5GHz modem to devices as recommended in user manual.  

  My question is whether the use of 2.4 GHz router-to-modem limits the bandwidth to the router which would not provide the highest capacity to connecting devices.  I do not understand the statement in the manual that this configuration typically provides optimum performance.

So you wouldn't NEED to use fastlane. But you can always try it several different ways and see what works best.

    Fastlane is good if you need lower latencies. 

    But if you don't, the speed of the 2.4ghz is going to be your biggest limiting factor. 

    5ghz is much much faster and capable.

      Thank you for your response.  We have 2 users in the home, usually only 1 user steaming videos at a time.  2 phones and one iPad connected all day with use of browsers and email.  

      Are the latency differences using 2.4 GHz versus 5 GHz in the range of 1ms, 10 ms, seconds?   To configure to use the 5GHz speed, set up with FastLane using 5 GHz to 5 GHz?  

        The technical specification for the modem states: Maximum DOCSIS 3.1 Data Rate: 2 x 192MHz OFDM channels provide capacity up to 5Gbps
      • Maximum DOCSIS 3.0 Data Rate: 32 downstream channels provide speeds up to 1372Mbps
