Firmware V1.2.1.6_1.1.86 Connection Drop Out
Hi, Since updating the R8000P to the latest firemware (V1.2.1.6_1.1.86), the router will not connect to the internet, unless it is rebooted. Despite this inability to connect, it says 'internet s...

resetting (and reconfiguring) the router after loading new firmware? This is probably the best advice to try first.
There is a manual for the R8000P somewhere at the end of this link:

See Reset button on page 12.
Remember, when you have a modem and router in the system you have to do things in the right order.
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
- Turn off and unplug the modem.
- Turn off the modem router and computers.
- Plug in the modem and turn it on. Wait 2 minutes.
- Turn on the modem router and wait 2 minutes.
- Turn on the computers.

How, exactly, did you determine that "the router will not connect to
the internet"? Some device or other had some problem or other? As
usual, showing actual actions with their actual results (error messages,
...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.
Apparently (from the web-browser interface?), the router seems to
think that it is connected. What's your evidence that it isn't? Did
you restart the device which exhibited the problem, instead of the
router?

Did you try loading any older-version firmware? Did you try
resetting (and reconfiguring) the router after loading new firmware?

Many things are possible, but, even if there is a problem with the
new firmware, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thanks, I agree hopefully reinstalling firemware and wiping settings will work.
Fingers crossed!

Thanks for your reply but it wouldn't connect to the internet via a web browser or an app.
The web browser error was: -
'Safari can't open the page'
In apps, no response or error messages.
I have restarted both device and router, crucially it was only restarting the router that made the difference. I expect the newest version of firmware to work...and the previous version did, so there's no benefit in loading old firmware. The problem has been demonstrated by the fact that it worked previously.
Also, why should you have to do a factory reset just because firemware is updated......bad software design!
I have reflashed the firemware and have done a factory setting reset, in the hope this works but only time will tell.
Thanks for some ideas though, hadn't thought of the factory reset as up until now it has been a good router.
