Grilla grill not connecting to nighthawk R7960p

Hey guys I cannot connect my grill to nighthawk router. I did just about everything I can think of to get it to connect. Turned off the 5ghz, disabled the wan protections and tried to connect it with 3 different devices 2 android 1 iPhone. I tried different bands, turned off wep and qos. I moved the router with in 10 ft of the grill and it has direct line of sight and it still won’t connect. I’ve been talking to grilla grills and they sent me a second board that’s doing the same thing. Anybody have any ideas?

what modem/gateway is the router connected to?

What firmware is on your router?

My isp is an ota tower. I have a poe antenna connected to the router through a Ethernet surge protector.

      Firmware is V1.4.1.68_1.3.28.

Seems like I"m always seeing issues on OTA broadcast internet.

Some have their own routing capability built in at the tower versus some act as true gateways.

        Never really know.

Got an old router sitting around? Easy check is to put the old router in access point mode. If it works in access point mode, the OTA is using their own routing and causing a double nat. Some devices have issues setting up with a double nat. Luckily, usually if you can get them setup, they'll work. Which is where the old router comes in.

If you don't, you can try your current router in access point mode. It can cause issues if nothing is handling DHCP when you switch though.

        Another option you can try.

Use a phone as a hotspot and use the same ssid/password as your current router. Get the grill setup and updated. Maybe it'll auto-connect/function if its updated and already setup.

  • I have the Grilla and just upgraded to the new WiFi board. I have watched all tutorial videos on installation, first use, and connecting the new board. For the life of me cannot get it to connect to my WiFi. Yes I am on 2.4 ghz like it tells you. I follow the directions to a tee in the app the grill connects to my phone goes into searching for network. It’s searches for a network for 10 seconds or so and then a message comes up that says networks unavailable. As soon as the message comes up on my phone about networks unavailable the new WiFi board powers off and I have to start the process all over. Are there any tricks to get it connected or did I get a bad WiFi board ? I should also say the my Grilla is about 15 feet away from my router.

That’s the same thing that’s happening to me. Grilla sent me a second board when I described the problem. Their advise was move it closer to the router (seems like you’re good there) and disable security firewall etc.

The grill hasn't seen anything.  I tried the nighthawk which is my main router, hot spot, and old router and non of these worked.  I tried an additional tested control board sent from Grilla and it didn't work to run the grill so my faith in the control boards are dwendiling.  I should note this is trying to connect through the app that goes through bluetooth.  The phone seems to find the grill everytime but the grill doesn't see any of the networks I tried.  Does the grill use the connected network on the phone or does it use the phone to search available networks?
