How to change preferred band value (MODEL: R8000P)
Yellow to everyone who is reading, hopefully the rest of y'all's lives are great to say the least. I'm trying to change the preferred band value of the wifi system I have from 5 gHz to 2.4 gHz. Thanks in advance!

your router is dual band which means it can simultaniously broadcas 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands. Go with a browser to http://routerlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1 and check your settings

microchip8 Its actually triband.
Are you using smart connect? If so, there's not a way to set a preferred band on the router.
But you can disable smart connect and setup the bands with their own ssid and then choose which devices you want on which band.

It's the client deciding which connection, which radio, which BSSID, and at the end of the day the band to be used. The decision is made from the signal level and the connection quality.
The 802.11k standard helps devices to quickly discover alternate BSSIDs that are available as roaming targets. by creating This allows the client to maintain an an optimized list of channels resp. BSSIDs.. When the signal strength of the current AP weakens, your device will decide for target BSSIDs from this list.
What is the point to prefer 2.4 GHz while the 5 GHz band does still provide better or equal quality and performance?
