I had my nighthawk R6900v2 connected to my centurylink modem C4000LG worked fine till now.

I have a CenturyLink C4000LG modem/router and I have a Nighthawk R6900v2 router... I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly till I moved the modem months later and the ethernet cable came out... After I plugged the cable back in it would no longer connect to the internet... So I went through all the steps as the first time and it still will not connect to the internet... I contacted Netgear support through chat and still couldnt get it to work then they told me I had to contact my ISP to configure it right so I did I followed their instructions and nothing worked then they told me that I didnt even have my NetGear router set up right and nothing I did with their help would do any good... So im at a loss and could use some help please...

       Connected to what?  Configured how?  Which type of service from
    CenturyLink?  (DSL?  Fiber?  Other?)

    coverage, or new failure-mode possibilities, or what?  Firmware version?

       _Which_ "the instructions"?

       _Which_ "the ethernet cable"?  A cable has two ends.  For each
    cable, what, exactly, does it connect to what, exactly?  (Hint: If a
    device has different types of Ethernet ports, then "connected to device"
    is not enough detail.)

       Pronouns can be dangerous when some of us can't see what you're
    doing.

     

       _What_ "would no longer connect to the internet..."?


       None of that is a useful problem description.  It does not say what
    you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
    showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
    messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
    descriptions or interpretations.  A clear description of what _does_
    happen would be more useful than a vague description of what does _not_
    happen.

       That might be useful information if anyone knew what happened "the
    first time".  Sadly, at least some of us do not.

     

       Does the C4000LG show any evidence of an Internet connection?

     

       There must be at least a dozen LEDs on the R6900v2.  Perhaps they
    were included for a reason.


       Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
    for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for the
    LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".

      Step[1: Locate your modem. Locate the modem supplied by your ISP. Disconnect any devices that are connected to it.

      Step 2: Unplug your modem. Unplug the power supply.

      Step 3: Plug in your modem. Plug in the modems power supply and wait for lights to turn on as before.

      Step 4: connect your Nighthawk. Use the provided Ethernet cable (or data cable) to te modemto your Nighthawk. Connectyour Nighthawk to the power adapter provided.

      Connect to routers wifi. Presson CONTINUE to go to Settings> WiFi and join the routers wifi network. Then return to the Nighthawk app.

       

         Does the C4000LG show any evidence of an Internet connection? Yes my modem has internet connection

           Says who?  I see "V1.2.0.76_1.0.1".

         

           Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
        for Downloads.  (For older versions, under Firmware and Software
        Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".)  Find the kit(s).
        Download the kit(s) you want.  Read the "Release Notes" file for
        instructions.  (In the User Manual, look for "firmware", and,
        especially, for a topic like "Manually Upload Firmware to the Router".)
        When that fails because of a deficient User Manual, try:

           And that's why it's helpful to reveal what you're actually doing and
        observing, as opposed to simply asserting your conclusions.

           Plug it into what?  Do you mean plug its DSL cable into it, or its
        power cable, or some Ethernet cable, or what, exactly?

           With my weak psychic powers, I can't see them now, just as I couldn't
        see them before, so I don't know what they might indicate or have
        indicated.

           See "For each cable, [...]", above.  Look especially for "not enough
        detail".

           "Connect" _what_ "to router[']s wifi"?

           I'd try using a web browser, instead of any Netgear-supplied app.
        It's explained in the R6900v2 User Manual.

           How, exactly, did you determine that?  Did you connect some
        computer/device to it in some way, or are you looking at its LEDs, or
        what, exactly?

           Did you?  As with the indicators on the C4000LG, I also can't see the
        indicators on the R6900v2.

           In the R6900v2 User Manual, look for "Use the Router as a WiFi Access
        Point Only".  Or did you configure the C4000LG as a modem-only ("bridge
        mode")?  Generally, using one full-function router works better than
        cascading multiple full-function routers.
