In my case on my R9000 I just got it the email last week

Great question, and already stated they do not provide that information. A more important comment to all of us is that Netgear end of life is really way before they provide the email trying to get you to buy another one of their routers. In my case on my R9000 I just got it the email last week. I was curious so I looked to see when last software update was provided and fell off my chair laughing. 1.0.5.42 was released in 2022. So they really don't care about any security issues over the last 3 years. I purchased mine in 2020 and had lots of issues with updates in the first 2 years. Not sure yet if I am going to buy a different brand next time.

It was released in 2016. So it was quite old (for routers) when you purchased it. The fact that it got updates for 6 years is pretty impressive. I can't think of a device other than Windows that updates its devices that long past a release date. Same with most router manufacturers. Its what happens after a certain time period.

If you're concerned about plex, I'd highly recommend moving to its own server. They perform much better that route. I've used plex on a mini pc and a full out server. Both were pretty solid. And they're not that expensive. Then you don't  have to worry about it getting out of date and it'll perform better.
