Install flash drive on USB port of C7000

Model C7000

Windows 10, firmware V1.01.33

I'm trying to set up a Kingston DataTraveler 8G flash drive on the USB port on the router as a \\readyshare but it can't be found on my network. My PC is wired to the router. (I checked the compatibility and the Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive  is listed even though the 8 GB model isn't so I would assume the latter should work.)  I also tried the SanDisk Cruzer 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive which is purported to work but not in my hands.

On the USB Storage Advanced Settings page the access methods says Network Neighborhood/MacShare. I don't know what that came from but it might be a problem. The link is \\readyshare but I can't connect to the flash drive probably because it doesn't doesn't show up. However, under Create Network Folder, a Seagate Drive does show up  which also might be another problem but I can't figure out how to create a folder or how to access it from my PC. Furthermore, I can't map the flash drive under Windows.

I tried to follow the instructions given in https://kb.netgear.com/24693/How-to-access-your-USB-device-on-the-N450-CG3000Dv2

but it didn't work.   Neither did https://kb.netgear.com/24068/How-do-I-specify-USB-access-settings-on-my-Nighthawk-router.

Also tried resetting my credentials in the creditial manager as suggested in one of the help topics.  Still no luck.

Obviously, network stuff is still a mystery to me and I could just use all the help I can get. Thanks, in advance.
