Magic Jack dropping calls
This is a follow up to my original posting 5/5/2021 with the title "Magic Jack dropping calls" regarding a VOIP phone from Magic Jack connected to a Netgear router. I was experiencing dropping of the incoming voice while the outgoing voice held. I am posting a solution or a vast improvement here. Refer to the earlier posting of all the kind advice from Forum members and Magic Jack technical support that didn't solve the problem. What did work is designating the Magic Jack as top priority in the router. Perhaps this could have been done by default by naming the device as "iPphone" instead of Magic Jack 1,2,3,4. This naming and others like Vonage assigns top priority automatically to the devices. Check your router to see if it has the same names and assignment.

What model NG router are you referring too?
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?Have you tried putting the devices IP address into the routers DMZ?

As mentioned in my first posting on this problem on 5/5/2021 my router is R6220 connected to a Surfboard SB6183 cable modem and then to Comcast.. I did put the Magic Jack IP address into the router's DMZ and many other things suggested by Forum members. My calls continued to drop at random times. Giving the Magic Jack the highest priority is the only thing that seems to work and a dropped incoming voice is now rare. I suspect the Magic Jack is not tolerant of the slightest interruption in that incoming path. Thanks.
