Mesh possible with RAX50 AX5400(main) and R7000 AC1900(secondary)?
RAX50 (main) is upstairs North East Room and R7000 (secondary) is downstairs South West Room.
They are wired together using cat6 through the walls.
Up to date firmwares.
I would like to create a single 2.4g SSID & password and a single 5g SSID & password to create just one larger wireless network using these two routers wired together.
I have successfully done this with older cheaper routers, but the R7000 simply isn't doing it, so I assume I must be doing something wrong.
I currently have the R7000 set up as an access point with different SSIDs & passwords
I would be grateful for any assistance since I have been at this for amost 10 hours for something that used to take 15 minutes.
I do not think I'll be buying NETGEAR anymore since I paid so much for these routers last year. Total current combined price is still $380 but I paid closer to $500.
Can anyone please guide me on settings of each router to make a single wifi network shared across both devices, basically blanketing the home in wifi?

Neither device is a mesh router.
You can set them both with the same ssid but they won't roam automatically like a mesh network. Devices will tend to be sticky and stay connected to what they originally connected to.
If you're wanting seamless roaming, the orbi line or theres a nighthawk mesh line supports this feature.
