Need help configuring r8000 with fios
We currently have our router connected to our quantum gateway, and have them both running simultaneously. Without the gateway we won’t be able to have tv and phone services. We also have a router for our neighboring apartment that is a fios router that lives off the gateway. My question is. Is it necessary for the nighthawk to work on its own without the quantum gateway? or am I better off trying to configure it without the gateway? If so how is it possible for me to set the nighthawk up without losing my other services stated above.

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.
