Neither App or Chrome Access Allows Name or Icon Assignment
I like staying organized and have all my devices named and an icon assigned. However, no matter what I do neither the App nor direct access via Chrome will allow me to assign a name or icon to my iPhone. On the app, I can click on my device, click "Edit", and change everything and even see "update successful" alert. I go back to the Devices page and there it is, pretty as a picture. However, when I go back to the main page, and return to Devices Online, it has reverted back to the default icon and no name. UGH! So frustrating. Any help would be appreciated. This is the latest app on an iPhone SE. My router is a Nighthawk R8300

Via the IP address directly to the router. Tried Chrome on Windows 10 and Mac.The icons available seem to depend on many factors. The IP address is not one of them. Routers have their own set of embedded icons, related to the firmware. Your router is pretty old (2016) and many not support some newer devices.
One tool I like to use is the desktop genie.
Netgear is trying to kill this useful utility, but for the time being you can find it here:
genie | Product | Support | NETGEAR
Be warned that the genie installation file is wrapped up in a RAR archive that you have to decompress.
It has a neat network map where you can edit devices, their names and their icons,
Just another user with time on their hands.

Where are you looking? Direct access on what? Chrome runs on many platforms.

- SCHNEBAspirantVia the IP address directly to the router. Tried Chrome on Windows 10 and Mac. Of course, via the router it only has the name change, but still did not work.

- SCHNEBAspirantOk, just tried to change a printers icon and name and it too failed. I’m convinced the app will not support this on my R8300… which is disappointing.
