netgear r6020 mbps is low speed

When I do a speed test without my netgear router (I use a cable)  it's over 300 mbps but when I do a speed test with the AC750 WiFi Router Model R6020 its under 30 mbps. I don't know what's wrong. Can anyone help?

    1. the R6020 isn't a gigabit router. Its only fast ethernet (10/100mbps). so even hardwired into the R6020, you'll max out wired at 94mbps-ish. So if you want your full speeds you pay for, you'd need to upgrade the router

    2. how are you testing on the router? wired/wireless? what band?

      I wish I could get 94. I'm only getting 27. I tried my friend's router. Same kind and at her place it's at 100 but at my place it was 14mbps. 

      I tested it with a cable from router to my laptop. Also, tested it wireless with no cable. The ONT Box from Verizon's speed is over 300mbps. So it's definitely the router. I called Netgear but they won't help me. The rep mentioned it needed trouble shooting. This whole time I thought it was Verizon and kept calling them. I didn't know it was the router. I thought because it was new it would work fine. I was wrong :(
