    Thanks. After scouring the web for a possible solution and playing with various MAC addresses I just kept rebooting the modem and the router back and forth until it suddenly worked. No rhyme or reason to it, but something clicked somewhere. Sorry I know that does not help someone else who may have the same problem.

What is the IP address of the router when connected to the modem? Compare to the IP of the laptop when connected to the modem if the same.
