Nighthawk R6700v3

New Here Noob questions: I have a router I've been using for basic internet for a while now. Just upgraded to 1 Gig fiberoptic internet but the speeds are not going up except for Upload speed. Looking under the hood on the router it seems like the 5 ghz channel should accommodate 1350 Mbps but I don't see much more than about 1/10 of that on my devices. Do I just need to get a new router or can this one be tweeked? Thanks! H

    Hey Furrye38:
Thanks for the science. Didn't expect a reply since all these posts were from 3 years ago! I reset the router and have 350-500 mbps so that's an improvement until I new hardware on board. Cheers and thanks again ~ H

Those are connection rates between the router and a device. Actual bandwidth speeds differ from connection rates.

Basied on router design and connected device design, most you'll ever see is around 300- maybe 500Mpbs on 5Ghz AC. You should seen near 900Mbps on ethernet.

If you want to see near that on wifi you'll need a different router.

Also most wifi devices are 2x2 MIMO so this also limits speeds as well. 4x4 MIMO would see near 1Gb or over. WIth newer generation routers.
