Nighthawk R7000 - Factory Reset Questions

I'm having annoying frequent WiFi issues. The router just drops all WiFi at times. Internet and wired devices remain OK. Nothing at all shows up in the logs so it's useless. Bought it new Nov. 2020 so kinda pissed I'm having problems this soon.

QoS was never active.

Anyway, read a few other posts about frequent WiFi disconnects. Saw recommendations to do a factory reset as first step. Will do so soon. I just saved a config file for after the reset, hopefully that will make the reset less painless.

I've had the router set to auto-update since at least January but as I checked things this morning it hasn't updated! Still on 1.0.9.88_10.2.88. I did the 'check for update' and it says NO UPDATE AVAILABLE. On this model's webpage I see two updates available, the latest being a Hot Fix.What's up with that? Is this a common issue? Is there some reason I should not update?

If I do update, will the Hot Fix (V1.0.11.123_10.2.100) bring the firmware totally up to date or do I need to do V1.0.11.116_10.2.100  first then the Hot Fix?

BTW, I don't suppose there is a setting anywhere that allows increasing the login timeout period? It is ANNOYINGLY short!

Thanks, Ken

Not all Netgear firmware versions are trouble-free.  However,
although you can read reports in places like this, running the
experiment may be the only reliable way to see if the newer bugs are
better (for you) than the older bugs.

It should.  Generally, a "Hot Fix" is a complete firmware kit,
lacking only the confidence of the people who provide it.

I know of none.  Tell your browser to save the credentials?

Finished the reset. Manually re-set all the various settings vs. using a saved config file. During the reset it checked for a firmware update but said NO updates available. Huh? Is this normal? Ignore it and update anyway?

Why would the device not see updates are available?

Don't get hung up about auto updates. You are better off manually checking yourself by just Googling R7000 firmware updates and it will take you to the Netgear download page for the model. I check monthly. I've done six firmware updates since buying my own router in February 2020 all problem free.
