NightHawk R7000 Character Length

Hello,

I have an IoT Edge device that is having issues connecting to the internet. The ethernet communication will not establish (led orange). When logging into the RouterAdmin, the "attached devices" shows the edge device in the list but the hostmane shows short 5 characters of what the device host name truly is.

For example:

d4dfr5r6-0f25-tt5y-09h98-04d57e0yxx4e      (edge host name length (including the dash's) = 36).

d4dfr5r6-0f25-tt5y-09h98-04d57e0      (showing in RouterAdmin attached devices (including the dash's) = 31).

I can't edit the character length, could this be causing my communication issue?

I am running with firmware V1.0.11.116_10.2.100

BR,

David

  • Host name character length wouldn't be a cause problem in the communications. Hostname seen on the routers web page is just for user viewable information seen by the router that it gets from the device. Possible that since this is a older model router, that it's limited to what the norm was at the time before your IoT device was produced and this devices uses a longer host name value.

I would contact the IoT devices Mfr for additional help and information regarding there product and getting it connected.

Thank you for the quick reply, contacting the IoT's manufacturer was my next step.

      Thanks again,
