Nighthawk R7000 laptops getting kicked off

I have a recurring problem in my home network that I haven't been able to solve.

I have a Nighthawk R7000 router. I have a Mac, my wife has a PC (Win10), and my son has a PC (Win10).

When it's just my wife and I working concurrently, all is well.

A couple/few times a day, when my son is on his Win10 PC, we all get booted off the network, including him.

What could be the problem? Win10 wifi settings on my son's laptop? If so, what? Something in the router? If so, what?

  • The R7000 isn't known for the best firmware.

It also reponds favorably to factory resets after changing firmware.

    That's where I'd start.

Factory reset it and reinstall it manually (not from backup). See how it works.

If it still has issues, then I'd install version 1.0.9.42 of the firmware. its the agreed upon stable/most reliable version of the firmware.

Install it over an ethernet connection, reset, and reinstall again.

What firmware is on the router?

What modem is it connected to?

        Thanks plemans

I did a factory reset of my router this morning, as well as the extender I have. Today was a good day, no outages at all. Will see how things go the next couple of days...
