Nighthawk R7000P 5G issue on Firmware Version V1.3.1.64_10.1.36

I too have the 5G drops on my brand new Nighthawk, and it's on the latest version according to the GUI.

I've heard of people manually putting on an older version but the posts were months ago.

Can anyone confirm that:

a. This is firmware related

b. That this version should be downgraded to "x" version and where to download?

I understand the process is to update the firmware via USB, factory reset, and manually set up again.

Thanks.

  • In my experience, the R7000P was rock solid until netgear armor was added.

If you haven't, the first thing I'd try is a factory reset and a clean install. Do NOT install a backup configuration. I think armor changed things enough that old settings cause issues.

If you have tried that, then I'd try the 1.3.0.20 version. Its the version prior to armor being added.

I'm not sure what a factory reset will do though as this is out of the box and I didn't turn on the Armor piece at startup. If I reset, it'll be in the same sate, right?

Not necessarily. The Armor "upgraded' added armor and removed other services. Even some of the stock settings can cause issues because of the big changes.

Its why its one of the first steps we recommend after upgrading to a new firmware and having issues.
