Nighthawk R8000 firmwrae update
I delayed installation of firmware update 1.0.4.76 until yesterday. have since downloaded the firmware update, however when I try to instal it Netgear Genie will not allow me access to the settings. It displays a message that my devise might not be supported, or that ipv6 address should be removed. Obviously I cannot do the latter without access to the settings.
When I looked further problem looks like being that Netgaer Genie no longer supports use for the R8000. I have therefore installed the Nighthawk app, however there are "Issues". I have tried using the WPS access. The phone makes a connection to the router, however when I return to the other screen, it still reports an issue. Retrying connection gets the same result. Looking at other possibilities the router is 7 years old and there is no QR code I can use.
How can I instal the update?

Use a computer and a web browser direct connected to the router via an ethernet cable. Best success no wi-fi no apps. Do a firmware default reset after the update is complete.
