Problem connecting wired desktop and wireless laptop through Nighthawk AC1750
I have a Windows 7 desktop plugged into my Nighthawk AC1750 R6700v2 router for internet access. I am also using the router for my Windows 10 laptop with a wireless connection. Both computers have worked reliably through their respective connections to the Net right from the start.
I have one problem: I cannot connect the two computers together for syncing calendars, sending files, etc.
- The Genie utility shows both computers as being connected to the router.
- I have set up a Homegroup on my desktop and my laptop tells me a Homegroup is available; but when I enter Homegroup password given by the desktop, it doesn't work.
Is there a way to configure the router to let the computers share directories and files?
Any guidance provided will be greatly appreciated by this old man!

Assuming the wireless and the wired client can communicate in a transparent way (ensure the wireless client isolation is not enabled on your router wireless config - as this would prohibit the direct communication with other devices on your wired or wireless computers), run the Homegroup Reset Troubleshooter (Win 10)
The bad message? HomeGroup will go away in a future update to Windows 10, but you can still do some of the things it does in other ways - including sharing files, sharing printers, and streaming media with Xbox 360.

I don't use Homegroup, still the old fashioned way using shared drives and computer permissions.
However there is a lot of info on the web, for instance:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17145/windows-homegroup-from-start-to-finish

I have not used W7 in ages, but plain old File Sharing will work too.
