R6400 won’t connect

I have an Arris SB8200 modem that is connected and working via LAN. However , my R6400 says “offline”. I’ve tried cycling power and a factory reset. Still no help.

Correct router firmware is V1.0.4.106_10.0.80

Don’t know what to try next

    You're plugged into port 1?

And you made sure to power off the SB8200 for 2 full minute? Try doing it again but disconnect the coax cable and factory reset the modem. (push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds while its powered on). Maybe its wan port aggregation is enabled for some reason.

When you've done that and connected the R6400, pull up its ethernet connections statistics and get a screen snip. you can also try pinging the SB8200 from the router. the modems address should be 192.168.100.1

You put the SB8200 is setup and working via lan.

Meaning you have more than 1 device connected to it?

If so, disconnect all devices from it, power it off, give it 2 minutes, then power it back on.

then connect the R6400 to it in lan port 1 and NO OTHER DEVICES.

The majority of ISP's only assign 1 public ip address. So even though the modem has 2x ethernet ports, only 1 device can be connected to it. theres a rare ISP or 2 that supports multiple public IP addresses but the largest ones don't.

      Thanks for the quick response!

Correct - I had to lan connections. I did what you said: disconnected both, rebooted the modem and then connected only the R6400. Still not working
