R6700V2 amber wan led
Hello,
So I have factory reset and updated the firmware on my nighthawk (r6700V2) and it is on firmware:
1.2.0.92
I am in a new condo, and don't directly have access to the modem. Guy installed the WiFi and started the service, and when he plugged his tester in he got the gigabit we were expecting. Now onto my steps. After he left I got out my old router (the one mentioned above, so yes it has functioned in the past) and wired it into the wall. The WAN light is amber, and while I can configure the WiFi and LAN settings, I cannot get anything to connect to the outside world. The router shows that it can't connect to NTP, and changing the server has done nothing so I think it says its 1969. Attempts to change the DNS are met with an error message saying "error in checking data."
The internet tech says he can probe my router's mac address, so why can't I get any outgoing connections?
Also, I have connected the Ethernet directly to my computer, bypassing the router, and it works just fine (hence this post).
Any help would be appreciated,
Michael

Do you know anything about the Internet service? How does it reach you? A hole in the wall? What's at the other end?
The "modem" is only the part of it. If you are trying to add a router to a service that has it own router, you can run into all sorts of difficulties. Router piled on router is a headache.

The first thing to try would be to put the R6700V2 into access point mode.
Visit the support pages:

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
That page will also have any software, firmware and drivers for your device, if they exist.
Look for the model number on the label on the device.
Check the section in the manual Use the Router as a WiFi Access Point Only
