- Looks like this firmware is OK! Never heard from Netgear, but they posted the release notes to their website: https://kb.netgear.com/000063867/R6700v3-Firmware-Version-1-0-4-118
We probably just stumbled on the update a bit before they intended us to.

- I am also wondering about this update - seems strange that the website doesn't say anything about it.

Same here \, I called Netgear customer support and after a long waitting time someone answered and hanged up TWICE!. I also checked the Netgear site for downloads and this download does not appear on the site. Hopefully more people will post here or at least the Netgear website will reflect this firmware update (1.0.4.118_10.0.90) for Netgear Nighthawk 6700v3.

New firmware rolls out in stages. The website is usually the first place. But it sometimes hits the update server earlier.

It appears that the latest update does something weird with DNS and loading pages. I keep getting "ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED" from my browser. This consistently happens when loading most sites. Refreshing the page after this message will typically load the expected website.
Downgraded my firmware version and stopped having this problem.

I am having the same problem on my R6400v2 router. I there a source from which older firmware versions can be downloaded?

This same thing happened to me when I upgraded from 1.0.4.106_10.0.80 to 1.0.4.118
I got very weird and inconsistent DSN results.
Using iTunes to update my podcast feed resulted in most reporting some sort of "network" issue (iTunes doesn't give useful error messages).
Sometimes I could browse (using firefox) to the actual podcast rss url, but couldn't ping it.
Sometime the "parent" podcast url reported and issue, but iTune could bring down the episode list. For some 'casts I could force a download of the episode, but not for others.
Trying a website got not such name, but a second later it worked fine.
Downgrading to 1.0.4.106 solved all my issues.
I hope Netgear monitors these forums and does something about this.
I would be glad to post full details of my set-up if that might help anyone.
My "complimentary" support ran out quite a while ago so I have no entry point (other than this post) to report the issue.
- I also had to downgrade my firmware to the old version after this update due to domain not found errors. Don't upgrade your firmware until this gets fixed!

This firmware update also caused miscellaneous issues with my router, DNS problems, dropped connections, etc. I reverted back to V1.0.4.106_10.0.80 to resolve it. I hope Netgear is working on this.

In addition to all of the above problems, speed drops to half. I'm on the Comcast 400 Mbs plan and consistantly get 440 to 480 down, depending on time of day. After update, 279 tops. Factory reset and revert back to previous release - problem solved.
- NetBrokeMyGearInitiateI have the R6700v2 and just installed 1.0.4.118_10.0.90 and am now experiencing DNS issues. Keep getting "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN" and other variants of not being able to resolve the host name. As others have said, if you retry a few times, it finally works.
Just created this account to (hopefully) let Netgear know that they've released another faulty Firmware. I was on 1.0.3.66_10.0.50 for the longest time due to speeds being cut in half on newer firmwares. I didnt experience a speed issue with 1.0.4.118_10.0.90, once I got a connection, I got speeds over 400Mbps.
Just for giggles, I changed my routers DNS servers to CloudFlare and Google with the same result.
These security updates would be great to have without breaking the basic functionality of the router.
Please get it together Netgear.
I don't think I can bring myself to buy another one when it's time to replace this one.- michaelkenwardGuru - Experienced User

If the rumour is true that Netgear contracts this work out to a third party developer, it is madness to put your reputation in the hands of a bunch of script jockeys who can ruin your brand's reputation.

1.0.4.120_10.0.91 is now available. Does anyone know if this corrects the issue presented in 1.0.4.118?
