R7000 Keeps resetting internet connection

Hi all, my WAN-connection (router->internet) seems to be unstable, and I can't fugure out why that is. We replaced the modem, that's not it, as it seems.

Exact every 15 minutes the connection drops, resets, a NTP-sync is done, and all DHCP IP's are reassigned. Find some loglines below; there are no errors of any kind, but as you can see [Internet connected] pops up every 15 mins and DHCP is making overtime.

Can you push me in the right direction to solve this? Thanks!

  • Okay, back again. And I think I figured it out.

My ISP has a very (very!) short DHCP leasetime, and therefor the router resets all its connections when the lease is renewed.
Renewing the lease however, doesn't exist in 'the wild'; it just expires and is setup again, no matter the IP that's been assigned.

That means all (wifi) connections are lost, and must be setup again. Horror. Really.

I think Netgear has a challange here to make its hardware compatible with this - imo not very practical - way of handing DHCP leasetimes.

In the meantime I've dumped my Nighthawk and replaced it with a TP-link router given by the ISP; all problems are gone and my connection has never been this stable. Hooray!
