R7000 Loop on login to Internet

I had this unit up and working and then disconnected it for a day. Now it will connect to the internet but I cannot get past the home screen as it keeps asking for login & pswd. If i put it in it comes right back and asks again! Says it's a Security Authentification. I have not changed anything aside from the SSID and pswd. Can anyone tell me what I have messed up?

Help!

Russ

  • I think I got it. I decided that before I went through the reset I would re-boot my modem. Did that and reconnected the router in the sequence in the instructions and right now all seems to be working again. I do not fool with this stuff enough to stay up on all the ins and outs. Thanks for the information and quick replies. It does get frustrating at times.

  • Make sure CAPS LOCK is off... If you've NOT changed anything enter admin and password, those are the defaults.

Did that and then even went so far as to have Netgear Genie retrieve the pswd which is what I had been entering. Still puts me in that loop where no matter what I enter the same window comes back asking for username and pswd. Is this a security setting on the router? I am stumped and about to send it back or call Netgear. Only other thing I know to do is start over and set ot back to factory defaults if that can be done.

      Thanks for the suggestion!

There 'is' a remote possiblity that 'someone' on your LAN changed the UID and PW on you, or even more remote, you got hacked somehow from the Internet.

Yes, holding in the rear hidden reset button 'should' reset everything... worth trying I guess... once reset you should have the default UID and PW again.
