R7000
There are many issues but they all started about the same time.
1.The Nighthawk app can not connect to the R7000
2.I have a device on the network it does not show up on the Attached Device list but does show up on the Access Control List.
3.The device is a main water shutoff valve that was working for a few years until recently.
4. Shutoff valve when near the router gets the ip address and shows in the ACL. When I move it to its location it drops off the network.
5.The signal strength where the valve is located is about 87%
6.It has the latest firmware.
Thanks in advance

A couple of things could have had an affect on your Wi-Fi connection to the shutoff valve. Updates to the firmware on your router, your shutoff valve, or other devices connected to your local network. These firmware updates may or may not play nice with other network devices. The radio frequency (RF) environment you are operating your router and shutoff valve in has had an increase in the number of devices and signal sources or sources of interference.
Some background information would be helpful. What is your RF environment? City, country, industrial, close neighbors? There are several applications available for Android that show the number of access points, frequency bands, channels and etc. when you are connected to Wi-Fi. A cell phone or tablet is helpful here.
On your R7000 there are several configuration settings that can the changed to help your situation. Most likely your shutoff valve is connected via the 2.4 GHz band. The R7000 should be set so the auto channel select is off. Manually select a channel, suggest 6 or 11. Set your transmit SSID so the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz bands are separate and readily identifiable. Do this by shutting off auto connect. I would also shut off band steering. I never found any value in the Nighthawk application and uninstalled it. Configuration of your router should be via a direct Ethernet connection using a web browser.
Using the word "latest" to describe firmware is of no value now or in the future. Only a version number is useful.
