R7800 - Used as switch and media server - changing third octet

I have recently upgraded my router/modem to a faster one. I want to use (and I did have it set up at one point) the R7800 as a switch (no WiFi, no DHCP) and the readyshare abilities to serve up movies to the house. I am having issues changing the IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.xyz. The main gateway/router has the IP of 192.168.0.1. When I change the R7800 third octet to 0, I am no longer able to log into its GUI. I have disabled the DHCP server. Please help. As I said, I did have it running at one time, but failed to log what I did.

Appreciate any help.

why not simply use it in access point mode?
you could disable the wireless or leave it enabled either as a backup or even something to take a load off the main wifi.

Its a pretty rock solid router
