R7800 Wi-Fi won't come back on after power shutoff
I am having a sudden issue with my 2 year old Nighthawk router. Today I had to shut my power off for some unrelated maintenance, but once I turned everything back on, I noticed my wifi network is down. I checked all my router settings and everything is exactly how I left it before the unit lost power, but it is telling me that the wifi is OFF even though it is enabled in my settings. Trying to change the wifi settings also now results in the error message "WPS process is in progress, please apply the changes later." This makes no sense, because I don't use WPS and I never have... but for some reason this process seems to be preventing Wi-Fi from functioning and I really need it back on!! Please help!

Did you press the wifi radio led button on the right side of the router for 5 seconds to see if this LED turns ON?

Sorry I forgot to mention... yes I have located and pressed the Wi-Fi button/light second from the right on top of the router, however this does not seem to affect my issue. Whether the light is on or off, the Wi-Fi still won't come on. Anything else to try before I attempt a factory reset?

Try a factory reset. After the router is on and before you walk thru the setup wizard, check to see if the default SSID name is being broadcast. I would also pull the power adapter plug from the router for 1 minute then plug back on then turn ON.

What modem/gateway sits on front of the router?
When you rebooted the network, did you follow the recommended order?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:- Turn off and unplug modem.
- Turn off router and computers.
- Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on computers and rest of network.
- yrogerg77AspirantMy modem is a Motorola MB7621.
Why would turning them on in a certain order affect my wifi antennas? No, I did not bother with doing things in a certain order. I have had power issues in the past, and when power is restored things have always worked fine when they boot up together previously.
I assumed that things would be OK here too, however maybe part of the router got fried somehow? I've never had this happen before all my years of home networking...- michaelkenwardGuru - Experienced User

Some modems also do wifi. (They are modem/routers.) In that case, the start up, order can determine how they configure themselves when they connect as they try to avoid conflicts.
In this case it shouldn't matter. But doing things on the wrong order can have other effects. That's why Netgear sets out the right order. Read the instructions.
Turn the router on before the modem and you can have a dead network.
