Hi mikeb3,
1. Can you provide me the screenshot of the error message that your see when trying to access the UI.
2. Try to use a different computer to connect to the router and access the UI. Use a different web browser.
3. Access the UI using the IP address (e.g 192.168.1.1).
4. Reset the router.

Here is the connection path to follow
1 If using the yellow lan cable netgear plug the yellow cable into the lan port of the modem next the other end of the yellow lan cable goes to the yellow internet port of the netgear r8000 router.
2 Any wired lan cables go to the lan ports of the netgear router.
Is this the way your's is ?

If some one has a solution I could use to get the two computers that won't join the router net work because they do not acept or reconize the IP address of the router I've come up with a new way to try to make it work. Because it worked to plug the wall cable into the new modem and have a lan connection to the computer as well as verify a internet connection from this arangement, the new attempt ideal is to leave the ancient modem/router connected to the service provider box and down stairs computer. I would then use a spliter for the cable from the wall that goes to the up stairs bed room cable box and connect the split cable to the up stairs cable box and the new modem. Then connect the yellow lam cable from the new modem to the yellow lam connection of the router. If no solution for the computer acepting the router IP adress is found then the router is close enough to the up stairs computer that I can run a lan wire to the computer, tv, and printer up stairs. It is a terible waste of an excelent router for its wireless capability. I can then run tempory lans to the sterio and blue ray player for ocasional soft wear up grades. I've got the new fence up and the yard work done. I get to plant the lawn tomorrow. I will save this project attempt for a rainy day which is expected in three days. Thanks.

on the back of the router you will find a reset button you may need a paper clip to push it in.

Tried new up stairs location, installed, let all the lights com on and pushed the reset button.I can now connect to the log in page and nothing else. I tried to install the offered gene soft wear to trouble shoot net work and it said temporyly not available or address has changed. pushed next and gave next page 5 minutes to load up repeated a couple times and never loaded and closed out. So finally got the log in page to load and it didn't let me get past the gene down load page. Trying to connect to the internet the new message is "your network is not secure or there is a problem with the website's security certificate". Either way repeat attempts no web page only repeated warnings. I tried to set up the open network and sharing center, however it asks questions I havn't a clue on. For example net work name is easy NETGEAR18. Next drop down box has some thing like no ID, the wep w's things and last choice 801 some thing. I tried no selection and the no id thing. I got the same warnings that prevented the web pages to load up. So progress kinda. I will see if the netgear log in sight is more friendly latter. Thanks for getting the log in page to load up. Do you have any ideals on how to set up the home net work on the computer using the computer network set up center. I'm not sharing any thing on my computer with any other computer home or other wise. I will only wifi connect to one printer.
