R8000P issues with what seems to be buffering

Ive noticed that my router seems to buffer data at some point, either going out or coming in. i have about 19 devices all connected to the router either through wired or wireless connections. the most important connection i want functioning with no buffer or blocking is my desktop gaming pc.. is there any way to allow my desktop to have a straight shot to the internet and bypass my router completely, or enable something in the router to prioritize my desktop so other data has no effect on my packets? i have QoS turned on, but i still get issues on game servers sometimes, and its weird because its not every server... ive tested this by connecting my computer directly to the ONT at the house and all my issues go away.

could i run a switch before the router by any chance? i have frontier fios 500/500

    What ont/gateway do you have?

What firmware is on the router?

Also, qos isn't recommend at speeds >250mbps. So disable qos.

Also disable traffic monitoring, access control, and parental controls. They can cause slowdowns at speeds >250mbps.

      ONT- GPON FOG421

      Firmware - V1.4.1.64_1.3.25

i dont want to use anything on the router to be honest... i only turned on QoS to see if it helped. all trafic monitoring, access controls, parental controls, etc are turned off

i have my desktops ip set, and the ports open for my desktop. i turned off UPnP, and opened NAT, ive tried pretty much everything and the router still seems to slow that particular traffic down. sometimes it even outright blocks some gameservers which i thought was really odd.. i couldnt even ping them or run a tracert when the router was connected. all worked fine without the router.

Yep, tried the DMZ host. It’s like the router is taking a long time to process the traffic and route it to me/send it out
