R8000P Slow Speeds Wifi
I recently upgraded from a R7000 router since the 5ghz band kept going offline after having it work perfectly for a few years. I bought the R8000P since it seemed like the range was better for our size home and it should work for more devices since we have many cameras and smart home devices. The speeds on wifi for all bands are much slower than with the old router. We use to see a consistent 225mbps which is what we pay for with spectrum. Now speeds are about 70 right next to the router and around 20 on the far side of the home. We were getting 200 everywhere with the old router. Is there some settings I should change? The router is in the exact location as before.
- I did the chat support on my phone and they were able to solve my issue. They had me change the channels for each of the 2.4ghz,5ghz1, and 5ghz2.
2.4 - channel 11
5-1 - channel 48
5-2 - channel 161
This seemed to completely solve my slow speed issue. Thanks again for the replies.

A couple things.
1. what firmware is on the router?
2. what modem/gateway is it connected to?
3. the R8000P is a triband router with smart connect. meaning devices can switch between the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz band. 2.4ghz is a much slower band and suffers from more interference. If you're using smart connect, check which band you're on. If you disable it, make sure you're devices are on the 5ghz for faster speeds.
Firmware - V1.4.3.88
Modem - E31T2V1
I have smart connect turned off. On all bands I am getting a slow 60-70.

Try making sure qos, access control, traffic monitoring, and parental controls are disabled and reboot the router.
What device are you testing on?
Have you tried several devices?

I'm having same issue with my WiFi router, when I connect it to my laptop it connects once but later on it disconnects fast and not connecting for long time. I don't know how to fix it.

Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
