R8500 1.0.2.64 Firmware killed WiFi printing on Canon MF5950dw, No resume from sleep with WiFi on

I upgraded R8500 firmware from 1.0.2.54-1.0.56 to 1.0.2.64-1.0.62 last night, I can no longer print wirlessly from Windows10 to Canon Imageclass MF5950dw or MF8380cdw.

I now have to restart printer to access menu controls before it goes into energy saving mode. Pressing resume from sleep button on printer no longer functions with WiFI enabled on printer.

Just to be clear, WiFi printing and resume from sleep mode was working prior to firmware upgrade. I had to disable WiFi and print from LAN to enable resume from sleep to print from LAN.

Canon Tech Support blames bad firmware update. Does anyone have a fix? Do I need to change a WiFi setting on the router? Must I restore my previous firmware?  Please help?

  • Was there particular reason you updated firmware?  Logic tells me, you better go back to the previous f/w. I always wait to make sure new firmware works B4 I move to update new firmware. Often firmware breaks something else while trying to something. Firmware update is serious matter.

    • Wifi stuff should be banned while we are sleeping! On my R8500 only the 2.4Ghz remain open!
