R9000 and Mesh Wifi 6 system

Hello Community,

I have the Nighthawk R9000 Router and recieved the Nighthawk Mesh 6 system as a gift. Is it possible to connect the mesh system to the r9000 to create a system that covers more range as well use the ethernet ports on the back of the mesh system on some device to help spped up the download times.

Thanks

The r9000 isn't a mesh router. So it won't fully integrate with your mesh system.

Not saying you can't use it. how you could set it up?

modem----->r9000------>mesh system in ap (access point) mode.

set the r9000 with its own ssid seperate from the mesh system so it doesn't mess up the smart roaming of the mesh system.

Then you could use the r9000 as a backup or even to offload some devices off the mesh.

  • I like my R9000 Router so I might excahnge the Mesh system for a Netgear Range Extender EX7000. Just purchased a new home with a larger foot print and just trying to make sure all the rooms have coverage.

I'd highly recommend the triband mesh extenders. They have better stability and faster speeds.

Another option is always the RBS40V as it has an extender mode. That way if you ever do decide to go with an orbi system, it integrates. (Plus tends to be cheaper)
