R9000 dropping connections

R9000 is dropping connections every few min.  I replaced the modem because the cable company said it was to slow.  Replaced with net gear so I thought it would be compatible to r9000. Other than rebooting I am not sure what else to try. Any suggestions are appreciated.

As a general rule, when you replace a major LAN component like a modem, you should do a firmware default (factory) reset on the router and reconfigure from scratch.  Do not import a previous configuration file.  It is alright to use the same Wi-Fi SSID's and passwords as previously configured.

What is dropping connections mean? What is dropping, wireless or wired?

Any top LED colors being seen?

What is the brand and model# of the ISP Modem the router is connected too?
