Re: ac2300 speed is slower than it should be
I just purchased and installed the same router as you (Nighthawk AC2300 R7000P) along side a Nether CM600 Modem and experienced the same cap. Same as you, I bypassed the router and did a speed test which yielded 340+Mbps. I’m also on a 300Mbps plan. I did as one of the other members suggested and disabled the Armor protection, and my speed instantly shot up past 340+Mbps.
I’ve been using Xfinity’s equipment for a long time, so I haven’t had an opportunity to learn and experience the ins and outs of routers and modems, so I’m also not sure why activating the Armor protection cuts the bandwidth almost in half, but it does. Hope this helps someone else.

When you activate armor. It has to do traffic inspection. Those older routers didn't have the CPU to max out a gigabit connection while doing traffic inspection.
