Repeater mode not available on nighthawk r6900v2

I have been trying to set up my nighthawk r6900v2 router for about 2-3 hours now. I wanted to set put in repeater mode so that I could put it upstairs in my house, but when I go into the routersetup, the only options available are Router, AP, and Bridge mode. On the netgear website, it says that all nighthawk models support repeater mode, so is there a way to make this option available? I am on the latest firmware as of 1/27/2021.

  • NETGEAR's site is outdated. Virtually all routers do not support Repeater mode

You also don't want to use it as it cuts bandwidth in half due to constant need to be in connection with the main roouter. Your best choice is Access Point and pull a wire. If you can't do that, powerline adapters are a good alternative though not as speedy

I second that suggestion. Unless you have seriously fast broadband, you won't notice much difference.

On the original question, visit the support pages:

Feed in the model number and check the documentation for that hardware. It claims that it does support bridge mode. Read the section Set Up a WiFi Bridge Between the Router and Another Device.

They may have removed this feature and failed to update the manual. That wouldn't be unknown.
