replacing non-Negear router with app for Model Number R7960P
I have just purchased and am thrilled with the install of the Model Number R7960P Nighthawk router. The best feature was I could rename it with my old SSID and password and it found that network and I did not hae to reenter or change any of my devices/email accounts to a new password. I did replace an older Netgear router. Can anyone tell me if this feature will work when installing a Netgear router with the app and replacing a previous router that is NOT a Net gear? My friend wants to replace her and I would love to reccommend what I got.
if you set the same SSID and password used on the old, non-NG router on the new NG router, it should work
Do not use crappy apps. Use the WebGUI at http://192.168.1.1 - especially if you need to do firmware upgrades. Also use wired connection for upgrading
