Router Issues C7800

I have a very unique issue involving a router I purchased from a online selling app. I purchased the Nighthawk C7800 to use with Comcast as I upgraded my speed. Only to find out the MAC address is assigned to an active account in CA. The router is not being used as I have it in my possession and the per is using Comcast equipment. Due to privacy issues the person annot be contacted instead thay have to call in and request it to be removed. They are probably not even aware it's still on their account. Can the mac address of the router be changed so that I can use it. Otherwise I have a very big paper weight. :(

No the mac can't be changed to do that.

If the person has an active account and switches to a different modem, you should be able to use it.

Or simply contact the sell as its currently an unusable device.
