router not connecting
The nighthawk app offered an update which I accepted, when the router turned itself off and back on, the app lost connection and everything went downhill from there, especially when we reset it.
As of right now, the modem works fine. It’s connected to the router. Our router connects to our home computer with an Ethernet, and of course we use wifi. The router only has two lights on. An orange light and a white light that is showing that the Ethernet cable is plugged in. There is no wifi light on. Despite that, I have zero access to Internet through the computer. It recognizes it’s connected to a network but doesn’t go further than that.
I read that I should log into the IP/router and change settings but I am unable to do that because I cannot get Internet with the router.
I can connect the modem directly to the computer and get access to Internet, but then the computer is not using the router and I’m unable to log in to anything.
I have changed so many computer settings and followed so many tutorials. Please any suggestions aside from “try resetting it”?

A few more details are key.
1. What router do you have?
2. what firmware did you install?
3. what modem/gateway is it connected to?
4. You said 2 lights were on and said the ethernet was lit. You said white but didn't say if that was for ethernet or what it was for. So what color is the ethernet one and what other light is on?
5. are you able to ping the router?
These are key details. We're trying to figure out if you bricked it and need to try recovering it with tftp/nmrpflash or if its a setup issue.

I have the same issue, router cannot connect to modem after upgrade.
