Router Throttling Speeds

Hey everyone,
I have a Nighthawk R8000 and gigabit internet service (1gb up/down).
With a direct connection to my Macbook via my modem, I get 920 up/down. With a direct connection to my Macbook via my router, I'm lucky if I get 200 up/down -- even lower over WiFi.

Some notes:
- I do not have dynamic QoS, parental controls, or any traffic metering activated
- I don't have that many devices connected -- a couple cell phones, a couple computer, smart devices (Alexa, Ring), a Playstation. Granted the devices were inactive when I ran the rest, I even ran the test with these devices removed.
- I have already tried installing older versions of the router firmware (without Armour or whatever).
- I tried to solve this problem a year ago and even factory reset the router -- not change.

If anyone has a solution to this, it would be greatly appreciated!

What modem is it connected to?
After the firmware changes, did you factory reset?

It’s a Nokia modem. As far as the exact model, I’m unsure — it was provided by the ISP.

I was able to downgrade only to 1.0.4.12 — anything before that is apparently incompatible with the router. The speeds are now sitting at around 430/550. Still not good enough, but better than nothing.
