Router to Switches to NAS ?

I am in the process of setting up a home network.

starting with a Bell Canada HomeHub 3000 - has WiFi and 4 ports.

1 port is out to my GS308P.

on the GS308P port 8 = Router... Port 7 = Laptop.. Port 6 = Desktop. 5 = open  ( keeping the 4 POE ports free for IP cams later )

all working fine.

To add more ports I would like to add a GS308E (or better if you recommend) so I can feed other desktops +

i also have a Synology DS720+ ( not set-up yet )

Q1, should I plug the new GS308E into a free port on the router, or into the existing GS308P?

Q2, shoud the 2 ports on the NAS plug into the 2 free port on the router, or into the GS308E

Would appreciate any feedback that makes the set-up easy, but protecting the family photos on the NAS is more impoertant.

Thanks team.

Depends on the intended network layout. If both switches are near to the router, I would suggest a "star" topology, and connect each switch direct / individually to the router.

Start with only one LAN port of the NAS, typically there is kind of a numbering on the NAS, use #1 to start with. Using multiple network connections for link aggregation requires additional configuration, probably on the NAS, probably on the switch [both links must go to the same switch!] and the NAS.
