Security update to latest firmware for wndr3400

I bought this router in 2016 and have never had a problem with it. I have received several emails over the years from Netgear telling me that there is enhanced security updates to the firmware. To date I have not figured out how to perform these updates. My model does not show up on nighthawk and routerlogin.net will not open on safari.

So how do I update my router?

    What modem do you have? 

    If its connected to a modem/router combo device, you might have a different default ip address for the router. 

    if so, disconnect the router from the modem/gateway. Then you can open a command prompt and type ipconfig 

    the default gateway should be the ip address for the router. Try using that to access it.

    make sure you have a v1 as there's several versions. Use the drop down box to select your version.
