Set up Issues AC4000 Tri-band
I bought this router today. I tried to use the Nighthawk App to set it up. I previously had a AC2100. I had a devil of a time setting it up. It wanted me to login but it said the admin and the password they gave me were wrong. And it said over and over again that it couldn't connect. I finally got it set up using the computer. Then I went back to the app and tried the new set up again. It still says it can't connect even though it is running and I can connect to the internet. Also it won't accept the password that came with the device. I think it is still seeing the old router even though it is no longer hooked up or plugged in.
I have discovered that if I look at the router settings, that it is showing the old model AC2100, serial number, etc. But if I look at the wifi settings, it is showing the X65 AC4000 R8000p WiFi Router. It says it is connected locally which from what I read is OK.
I tried to login to the router on the PC, but again it says that the username and password are incorrect. I also tried to reset the password but it wants me to answer the security questions, but it says that my answers are wrong.
But if I want to connect a device, I have to enter the password that came with the device on the little sticker with the scan code, the one it won't accept when I try to login to the router. The password is not PASSWORD!
I think the issue is that it is mixing the two devices (since it is showing the old model/serial in the app).. It also had a bar acrross the bottom of the app that says it can't connect with a button to retry, even though it shows that the R8000p is connected. Aslo, it doens't correctly show the devices that I have connected to the router. That Armour app tells me that it scans each device when I connect something, but it also says that Armour isn't supported with my device. I'm sure it means the AC2100.
So how do I get it to not see the AC2100 anymore. It is not plugged in. I already removed the app and re-installed. Do I need to delete the old device from my account somehow? I don't see a way.
Well, I got it fixed. I unplugged the modem and the router and waited a minute. Plugged in the modem. Waited for it to boot up. Plugged in the router and attached the yellow cable to the yellow port. Then I uninstalled the Nighthawk app and re-installed. Let it go through the set up and it found my router. Then it wanted me to login but it wouldn't accept my password. But I finally figured out what that password was. So now it shows the correct devide in the app and all the errors are gone.
