Setting up port forwarding for Minecraft server

Hello,

I am trying to setup a Minecraft server using portforwarding so my friends can connect. The server works and I can connect locally using my ipv4 address. I got this from running ipconfig in cmd. I found my IP from googling "whats my ip" and that matched what was displayed in my advanced settings. My ip is 96.35.x.x

I set up port forwarding through my routers advanced settings and used the same ipv4 address that I used to connect locally. This should not be the issue.

I checked to see if the port was open using "https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/" and after inputting my public ip address (96.35.x.x) and the port (25565) the website said it was closed. I also know it isn't working because my friends could not connect using my public ip address.

If it helps I am using ethernet and my ISP is Spectrum.

Please get back to me as quick as you can!

Thanks.

       Firmware version?  Connected to what?

       What is it?

So, not your _personal_ IP address, but the LAN IP address of (an
Ethernet interface on) some (Windows) computer or other on your LAN?

I can't (yet) see your pictures.  In-line images must be approved
by a moderator before others can see them.  The time required varies.
Attachments have no such limitation.  Of course, attachments have their
own one-per-message limitation.  In the mean time, copy+paste is your
    friend.

You, _personally_ have a public IP address?  Or is that the
external/public IP address of some interface on some device at your ISP
    or your dwelling?

Even more helpful would be information about your modem (or
modem+router), or whatever's between the WNDR3400v2 and your ISP.

For the usual problems with port forwarding, see:
