Slow internet speeds with Nighthawk R8000
I'm paying my ISP for 400Mbps/400Mbps speeeds but am only getting sppeds in the mid-200s. I usually test with a wired connection -- a CAT 5E cable.
When I had FiOS gigabit service my Nighthawk gave me speeds in the 500s. When I switched to 400Mbps service my throughput dropped to the mid 200s.
If I connect the CAT 6 cable from the ONT directly to my computer I get full speed service.
Why is the Nighthawk slowing things down?

What modem/gateway is it connected to?
What firmware is on the r8000?
when you changed isp/services, did you ever try a factory reset and a clean reinstall (not from backup) on the router?
Make sure to leave qos, access control, parental controls, and traffic monitoring all disabled after the reset.

there is no modem/gateway. The R8000 is connected directly to the ONT.
Firmware: V1.0.4.68_10.1.75
All the features you mentioned are turned off except Access Control. I'll turn it off too.
I didn't do a factory reset because it worked fine at first and because last time I did one the R8000 died and I had to get a new one.

Those features disable ctf (cut through forwarding) that enables speeds >250mbps.
And I've read of ctf not getting re-enabled even those those services were disabled.
If disabling them doesn't help, try the factory reset. You can do it through the settings menu if you prefer.
